A riveting collection of firsthand experiences and personal memoirs, The Lies We Told is an emotional roller coaster through the lives of everyday people and the unimaginable struggles they endure. KNOW BEFORE YOU READ

Violence and Language

While this book was never intended to be a collection of ”horror stories”, many scenes do contain detailed descriptions of graphic events that may not be suitable for young readers. Parental discretion is advised.

Creative Non-Fiction

While many of these stories are based on real life events, all names, places, dates, and locations have been changed/modified in some way, either to protect the identities of those involved or as a way to better convey the focal themes of each story.

Triggering Content

While some characters/scenes exhibit overtly racist/sexist behavior, it is my firm belief that to water these stories down would not only be a gross disservice to those people who lived through such events, but it would also severely undermine my credibility as a writer; further lending power over to fear merely for the sake of appeasing ”political correctness”. In short, none of this is supposed to make you feel something good… It’s meant to make you feel something real.
